Village du Pecheur
We recommend this address to those who want their feet in the sand before the...
Le Château de Feuilles sits above Pointe Cabris, on Praslin's quieter southeastern coast, where a low hillside of palms and granite drops straight into the Indian Ocean. The main house, a single whitewashed château, holds one suite upstairs; the rest of the property's seven rooms and villas are scattered through the tropical garden below, each one built to face the water rather than the entrance. There's no sense of a hotel complex here, more a scattering of private houses that happen to share a pool, a kitchen garden, and a view. It's the kind of place that rewards travellers willing to leave Mahé's beaches behind for something quieter and considerably harder to find twice.
We chose this address because it does privacy properly, not as a marketing line but as a layout: seven keys scattered through a garden mean no two guests ever really cross paths. The organic swimming pool, the kitchen garden that feeds the restaurant, and a helipad reached directly from Mahé all point to a property built around removing friction rather than adding spectacle. What ultimately convinced us was the island: Grande Soeur, reserved for guests only at weekends, turns a boutique hotel into something closer to a private estate with its own marine reserve attached.
Pointe Cabris occupies Praslin's forested southeast, a short drive from Baie Sainte Anne and close enough to the Vallée de Mai, the palm forest that shelters the coco de mer, to visit before breakfast. The hotel's own boat puts Grande Soeur within about twenty minutes, while La Digue, Curieuse, Cousin and Aride all sit within range for a day on the water. Access itself is part of the experience: a fifteen-minute hop from Mahé by Air Seychelles, the hour-long Cat Cocos ferry, or, for guests who would rather skip both, a helicopter that lands directly on the property.

Our Favorite Thing About the Hotel: the weekend-only boat crossing to Grande Soeur, a private island reserve of giant tortoises reserved exclusively for guests
Dining: home-style cooking built on the property's own organic vegetable garden, with a dedicated vegetarian menu
Amenities: organic swimming pool, private pools in villas and deluxe suites, a Roman hot tub in one Junior Suite, a private helipad

The seven rooms split across five configurations, and the choice matters more than usual here. The Ocean View Villas and Deluxe Suites each keep a private pool, ideal for a stay that never has to leave the terrace. The Château Suite, on the first floor of the main house, is the closest thing to staying inside the original building. One Junior Suite carries a Roman hot tub rather than a private pool, worth requesting directly if that detail decides it for you. Every category, whatever the size, opens onto the same uninterrupted stretch of ocean.
There's no imported produce doing the heavy lifting at Château de Feuilles: meat, fish, seafood, fruit and vegetables are largely drawn from the property's own organic garden, and the kitchen builds its menus around whatever that garden produces rather than the other way round. A dedicated vegetarian menu runs year-round rather than as an afterthought. It's a quietly confident way to run a restaurant on an island where most hotel kitchens lean on refrigerated imports, and it shows in a menu that changes with what's actually growing a few steps from the dining room.
The property rewards guests who plan the crossing to Grande Soeur into their stay, since it only runs on weekends and a short midweek visit may miss it entirely. Access by helicopter or through the hotel's own arrangements from Mahé is worth settling before arrival, since Praslin itself is reached only by air or by the Cat Cocos ferry. Expect quiet rather than nightlife: this is a property built for couples and honeymooners, not for a large group travelling together.
